Our Story
How We Met
Long before Veiko and Yolanda met in person, they spent a good amount of time exchanging messages on a social network. Their conversations were relaxed, not daily, but with a special touch. They spoke when they had the time. On a beautiful Thursday, Veiko said that he was on vacation with not much to do. Yolanda playfully invited him to visit Tartu, suggesting she could show him around the city. Surprisingly, Veiko accepted, and it happened.
The next day, on a Friday in November 2021, they saw each other for the first time. They were both anxious and nervous, but they quickly felt at ease. They laughed, talked, played, and had a laid-back weekend, as if they had known each other for much longer, even though it was the first time they met.
Becoming official
In May 2022, we embarked on a delightful trip to Helsinki, seeking a weekend away from the daily routine. It was our first time boating together, an extraordinary experience. We explored the capital's iconic landmarks, savored some of the best sushi in our memories, and, at the end of the day, headed to the hotel, a gem situated on a small island completely surrounded by water. The magic of the place resonated with the song of birds, the gentle dance of tree leaves, and the light and transparent melody of the tide.
Seated on a rock, we admired the nature around us when Veiko uttered the words, 'Yolanda Pereira Moreira, would you like to be my girlfriend?' Yolanda promptly accepted the proposal. Both understood the significance of that moment and how meaningful the date, 06.05.2022, would become.
Moving in together
Veiko proposed to her in November 2014 just as completed the NYC Marathon. A month later, Veiko counter-proposed to Yolanda on the Brooklyn Bridge. They're now busy planning their Valentine's Day 2016 wedding and chasing after their dog, Cody.

Proposal
I proposed to Yolanda at the beginning of December in a small cabin situated at the edge of a forest next to the sea. The cabin was, of course, surrounded by a lot of white snow, which is why I chose the place—it represented something characteristic of Estonia, the place where our paths crossed.
I had the idea that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her just a few months after we moved in together at the beginning of the summer. As the summer progressed, my certainty grew even stronger, and I ultimately decided to propose. I successfully kept the ring a secret the entire time, from September until the big surprise.
